How’s your Day Going Today?

It makes sense moving closer to family. I suppose you can’t have it both ways . These days are family are spread across the country and beyond.

@Heartbroken12 I am sure you are joking . You seem to have a really good friendship which is nice . I am sure it will be better for @Johnr to be closer to his family . I am lucky I only live 3 miles away from my son , and daughter in law and family. I only see them once a week , as they are busy with work ect . I know if I needed them they would be here for me which helps a lot

@Heartbroken12

Just outside Pwythelli ( probably not spelt correctly ) in a place called Nefyn.
It’s extremely hot to be honest so I’ve just come in.
I nipped to B n M before and bought a beautiful budding clematis for just £6.50 so I’ll be planting that at home next week. I’ve got a piece of fencing it’ll look good on.

I’d like a camper van, would not go on own though,I’ve a few friends I’m sure would come for a free holiday, Lamborghini would be nice though lol, have to sell a bit to pay for it though, council today put a new hedge on my boundary after illegally cutting it down 2 months ago, trying to steel more land off me,they bought 2 adjoing properties , now they want to buy my land for 6 oap bungalows,I’m not selling for what they offered me, I want 10 times that amount, even iff they try to force me to sell I own the only access road in with a neighbour, its all stress I don’t want at the moment, they had a digger there this morning to put the hedge back in,they said it was there’s but I got the deeds and showered it to them,

There’s no problem in a camper van on your own, I away. On my own in my caravan at the moment, the camper van/caravan community in general are a friendly bunch. There’s usually someone about to ask for help if you’re not sure what your doing. When we bought our 2nd caravan we collected it from York and stayed close for the first few nights. As I reached into the car in York to get the towing mirrors out, my back locked up completely, Rachel had to pull me out of the boot and help me to my seat. When we arrived at the caravan site, we’d requested close to the facilities & the pitches around our’s were empty. Rachel helped me out of the car to see her back into position, next thing we knew there was people everywhere, setting it up for us, I’ve no idea where they appeared from, or where they went once we were pitched! There was that many of them they were actually getting in each other’s way. Rachel & two other ladies apparently were all looking at the hitch and all made the same comment “I don’t know what you do, he always does that bit!” One lady even took her shoes off to climb and check it was level, it wasn’t a nice shiny new caravan it was about 30years old & a bit shaby.

It has taken a bit of adjustment & a lot of tears, to continue holidaying in the caravan without Rachel. Firstly I had to tow it for the first time ever, Rachel did that as our previous tow cars have always been manuals. I only drove in an emergency for about 12years due to my back, then Rachel leased an electric car through Motability, with no gears to change, so left leg didn’t need to do anything, so I was able to drive it. The caravan site I’m on now Rachel towed the caravan and I drove the electric car here, stopping off to get the fresh food shopping we needed on the way. When we first had it, it was great as I’d stop off at Tesco (which was free to charge at then) plug in, eat my lunch, do the shopping taking about 2hrs in total and adding about 90miles to my range. The car 2as capable of doing the journey in one if needed but we’d be left with only about 30miles range, so would need to charge before going anywhere. The first time here was even better as they had 2 charges which were free to charge at. So all our site seeing whilst here that year was free! I’m rambling on again! We could both talk the hind legs off a donkey and had no problem starting a conversation with others staying here. We also made some fantastic friends over the years, there used to be 2 other couples who came here ever year & we were always pitched together, sadly I’m the only one of the 6 who’s still here. One couple changed to a permanent pitch at a site a few miles away, (we visited each other when here), then she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and sadly passed away & the last we heard of him, he was in hospital & not expected to make it. As we heard nothing more I assume he joined his wife. The other couple he had bad diabetes, he’d had most of his toes off & had sores on his feet, then he had to have a leg amputated at the knee, so they sold their caravan as he couldn’t manage it anymore, they didn’t live far away so they still came to visit when we were here. He was in hospital because of sores on the other leg & caught Covid in there, which sadly he didn’t survive. Rachel actually took his funeral, which gave her the kick she needed to finally start to train as a Civil Celebrant, I think that’s why he wanted her to do it! Sadly she never got to finish it, the week after she passed away, she had planned to call the undertakers to ask if she could go there, the next module of her course required her to ‘shadow’ them to learn about the process.

I’ve been rambling still!

No that’s not right but a good try, it’s Pwllheli. I’m just round the coast from you I’m in Morfa Bychan which is just outside Portmadog, it’s b….. hot here too. Porthmadog often makes the national news as the hottest place in the UK during hot spells. That’s why I have aircon for my caravan as I can’t do heat, it’s not I don’t like it, my body can’t take it. I’ve had heat stroke here a few times in the past even with being careful. One time we left the caravan drove (with aircon) down to Harbour Station in Porthmadog to catch the Ffestiniog train, we travelled in the open sided carriage & I kept out of the sun. When we got back we drove back (with aircon on again) to the the caravan where the aircon was running but I suddenly felt really ill & almost passed out! I spent the rest of that day lying on my bed in just my pants (sorry not a pretty sight) with an osillating fan blowing onto me & the aircon running. People often laugh when I say once it’s above 25°c I’m in danger, they think I’m exagerating! but it’s true.

Glad you’ve got your hedge back. Quite a few years ago a developer want to buy Rachel’s grand parent’s home, they’d lived there most of their married life. Her Grandad used to dig it all & grow their veg, which during main cropping time got shared round the family too. Her Nana would’ve like to sell in someways to move to a bungalow but it needed to have a good sized garden for him to cultivate. In the end they didn’t sell even when the offer was increased by a lot, they were the only one who didn’t sell. The developer had to plan their entire estate to go around their back garden! He made sure when they put fences up that it was on their land side of the original boundry. Once when the wind blew it down onto his garden, he wasn’t well so I went round to lift them back off his land. One woman come out of her house and asked if they were going to replace the broken fence post, I shouted back to her saying why would they it’s not their fence. She then got a bit abusive & told me I was being childish, I can’t remember quite what I said back, “I know I start I’m being childish, I’m not the one….” sadly I can’t remember how I finished it I know I threw her insult back at her. Rachel’s Nana was standing just out of the “neighbour’s” sight and doubled up laughing, as we walked back up the garden, she said to me “ I didn’t know you had that in you!” Think I definately went up in what she thought of me that day!

It’s a fare way for there, from Rhyll you’ve got Llandudno, Bangor and Caernarfon then on that north coast is Nefyn and if you go south from there you get to Pwhelli it’s on the south coast of the peninsular. Then tucked in the corner where the pennisular starts you find Cricceth & Porthmadog. So it’s within day trip visiting from Rhyll, often at the Ffestiniog railway you find a coach party who’ve travelled from Holyhead on the north of Anglesey, where their cruise ship has docked, tends to be full of Americans then, I know when storm ‘Dave’ was here they had one cancel as the couldn’t safely get into the dock.

Hi Mitzi

Let’s hope so. Sunshine will hopefully help, it’s better than waking to rain anyway.

I’ve accepted an offer on our house today and instructed a solicitor, made an appointment to view a house too. It’s all making me incredibly sad.

Chat with my son didn’t go well (awful is an understatement) and he’s not reading my messages. Just how miserable can this life get.

Enjoy the sea and the sun, hope everything is as you want it when you return home x

Oh Helen, am so sorry this is happening to you. I really hope he comes round. You have to do what is right for you though. Please look after yourself. Our children don’t seem to understand how they can make us sad, my eldest son has been off with me for years, since he married to be honest, it breaks my heart. I haven’t seen my grandson for a year now, his wife is very controlling and hurtful! Am sending lots of love :heart: xx
