A story to cheer people up. My neighbour is new to online supermarket shopping. She managed to order 8 boxes of crunch nut corn flakes. Didn’t refuse them either. I sent this story to my brother and he told me that when he was a project manager he meant to order 50 meters of cable but ordered 50 drums. They turned up in a convoy lorries.
Lol … that’s funny xxx
I feel we need some humour on here occasionally. Pity I don’t like crunchy nut corn flakes. I am going to give one of my 5 (yes 5) back scratchers to my neighbour as she has said she would like 1 and is getting me a loaf of bread and some apples today. My stock control not great yet.
Apparently once when she was a little worse for wear in drink she ordered 17 Lindt chocolate bunnies.
Yeh i think everybody is a bit down! Rememberence day i think snd rubbish weather x btw did you see annabel croft on strictly ? She was briliiant last night i thought !!! Xxx
Weather not been too bad here in West Country. Bright and cold. Annabel was fantastic. Can’t stand Layton but did like the routine. We were probably all a bit naive thinking we could watch a memorial ceremony for the dead. At least I turned it off before they played Nimrod or I would have needed a box of tissues. There is something about that piece of music that affected me even before Norman died.
Let’s get back to watching rubbish TV.
It was nice here yesterday but wet and grey today ;( no i know ehat you mean - layton is very intense isnt he ? But like u say good routine … and angel rippon in her madonna style … funny … but she does so well for her age xxx
Yes switched TV on to watch Christmas movie now as fed up with bamboo just now 16ft tall and me only 5ft 1in so just glad no one watching as they would be laughing at me attempting to cut and put on bin
At least i managed to fill one of my bins for collection.
I agree Annbell on strickly was great which i could dance but after my line dancing attempt last month not for me
Take care
Lynne
I used to dance up until about 21. At 3 I did ballet, tap, musical comedy and national and got medals. My father taught me waltz, quickstep and foxtrot. Went to night school with him and learnt jive, rhumba, samba, cha cha and paso. Teacher used to teach me all steps before class and use me. As his partner to demonstrate. Also know basic tango. Not any more with arthritis.
Unfortunately her age worked against her in that one. It did look funny but how is she so flexible at her age.
Ueh ot was a bit weord wasnt it ? Bit she is a good dancer ! Who do you think will go tonight ? X
I think Krishnan . Samba is really difficult and he sort of looked awkward. Those yellow trousers did him no favours. Jive and rhumba were my favourites. Particularly fast jive. Other members of night class considerably older than me as I was 18. The teacher would put a fast jive on at tea break and teach me a lot of new steps. Think he just liked having a partner who could dance. I was the only one in class to learn Paso. That Paso walk us a killer.
Did you have dance classes ? Brilliant ! Yeh i think krishnan too - he was a bit rubbish xx
I had knock knees and pigeon toes so was sent to Madame Behennas school for music and dance to straighten my legs. There twice a week from 3 until 16. My Dad and Uncle were good ballroom dancers so taught me Ballroom. Latin was night school from 18 until 21. My mother was a terrible dancer and dad wanted a partner. Also done modern sequence dancing. Wouldn’t believe it now but I could do a running split and laying on my stomach touch my head with my feet.
Thanks @Pudding!
SAP not SalesForce, I remember now! Many many years ago I got sent out to Germany in the middle of winter to attend an SAP training session as the database company I was working for were thinking about acquiring SAP.
Miserable day in London. Grey, continuous rain or drizzle and cold. Was going to do some gardening but easily managed to persuade myself to put that off for another day. Walked up the road for a coffee and some stupid minor things triggered memories of some of the more traumatic moments of Christine’s illness so that has created a shadow for the rest of the day. Have been to the gym to calm down. Will practice my piano and guitar during the course of the day and veg with some mindless TV (no shortage of that) this evening and at some point go to bed to kind of sleep for a while.
I learnt to Salsa for a while. To be honest I much preferred listening to the music rather than dancing. I am afraid that my over all dancing ability is best characterised as the dreaded “Dad’s dancing”!
You must have been an excellent versatile dancer. I guess it is hard for you that you are no longer able to indulge this talent.
So another Sunday marking the end of another week. And so to another week hopefully with some periods where the sadness is not so intense.
Best wishes to you,
Simon
Hi Simon.
I think you must be somewhat younger than myself. I do so wish I could play an instrument. There is a misconception that we IT people are not creative or artistic. We have to be to create programs and systems
. I used to play recorder. 3 types. But didn’t we all. Learnt clarinet for years but never really good. My father used to say it sounded like a cow in pain in the Mersey tunnel. Tried keyboards and guitar but can’t really play guitar and clarinet due to soft pads on fingers. I could also never stretch my fingers for chords. I did used to be a pretty good singer. Madrigals and choral.
At the end of my career I was support and installation for SAP, I specialised in accounting and costing which I was forced to do but could turn my hand to sales and material management. Never managed production and production costing. Still too few women in IT and i suspect when working away hotels still try to hide us behind potted plants in the dining room and still have to fight to get served at the bar. It was really tough sometimes getting clients to take me seriously but I did love my job. Designed and wrote software for toys r us, Laura Ashley, Curry’s and GSK. Not my fault toys r us went broke. My software was when they first entered UK.
Lots of mindless TV to watch.
Keep string.
Sandra
You make me laugh … lots of mindless t.v. to watch ! Tbh i have it on and don’t watch it half the time xxx
@Deb5 good for filling the silence. I am glad I can make you laugh. Always had a somewhat quirky sense of humour. Xx.

Hi Galaxy75.
I have just been talking to my daughter who is so understanding and supportive and i thank her for that. It feels like role reversal at the moment, i’m suppose to be supporting her in her grieve but at the moment , all i’m thinking about is trying to keep myself sane, to breathe in and out, to get up in the morning for work, to just be here but there are more cons than pros.
