I stand by the question I asked in the room. I fully understand it will take people longer BUT we do have to move on somehow and making goals is the way forward. I might be lucky I don’t know, but being diagnosed with Myeloma has given me a goal to achieve - getting into remission. Then I will see where I go with life!
I think the one thing I have control over, is my health and wellbeing. Keith. I make an effort to eat properly and exercise. Something I have neglected for a while, quite a while actually. My hope is to achieve some normality without R. We were friends for 50 years, since we were 11. We lived together for 39 years. So my goal will eventually be, to feel comfortable being without him, but honoring him and his memory. It may take a while. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
@Keith68
I’m like Mbg in that I want to honour my husband’s memory and make him proud of what I do. I aim to look after what mattered to him, which very much includes people.
I also have the very real need to help my younger daughter to become as independent as she can be so I have purpose thrust upon me and did from the beginning. She needed me so I had to look after myself.
I am a carer to my adult autistic son. My husband died almost two years ago. My goal is to be there for him. I have recently gone back to singing in the choir after an appeal went out for help. I helped children to make a collage and realised I was able to still do this at a community event. This is what I used to do. I joined a creative writing class on zoom and again getting back to what I do. Might not be new stuff but it feels comfortable. Walked round the fields and although very slow that felt good to watch the squirrels again. Cut up an empty plastic milk container to hang up bird seed for birds to stop my cat eating them. Stayed overnight in Stratford on Avon and liked watching the exotic butterflies again in the beautiful tropical farm there. Grew some tomatoes and runner beans in the garden so felt something at least. I enjoyed putting flowers from my garden on my husband’s grave. Made a cat friend there of a ginger puss in the churchyard.
Good Morning All
Sorry I was unable to make last nights Zoom meeting. I will definitely join next Sunday and look forward to meeting you all.
Im in Scotland, I lost my husband in May this year. We were together for 43 years since I was 18…Married for over 40…its a very lonely painful path so looking forward to catching up with you all next week .
Hope you all have a good week.
Hi @Enorac,
I’m pleased you have gone back to some activities you did before and that are for you to enjoy. It is so important as a carer to look after yourself, which includes your mental health.
