Hi all. Wondering if anyone else on this forum has lost someone close to them to Mesothelioma? I lost my mum in May to this awful disease; we knew she was ill but thought we had more time. She was only 58 and we will never be sure what caused it or where she was exposed to asbestos (she didn’t work with asbestos like many people, typically men, who suffer from Mesothelioma).
Hello @RomyMo,
I’m so sorry to hear about your mum.
I know that there are a few people on the community who have lost someone to mesothelioma, who may understand some of what you are going through.
@kidsangel123 talks about losing her husband on this thread,
and @Bigga sadly lost their dad to the disease, which they discuss here,
Maybe you can reach out to them?
If you click the little magnifying glass at the top, you can search for more conversations which mention mesothelioma, and read other peoples’ experiences.
I hope that this is helpful. Take care and keep reaching out
I am sorry you lost your mum. My husband of 54 years died in may. He was in hospital for a biopsy abd diagnosed with mesothelioma, technically i suppose he didnt die of it but with it. He had a heart attack white in there. He was a gasfitter and was exposed i suppose 60 years ago. His mum died of mesothelioma 10 years or so ago and they think she was exposed washing his work overalls for about 8 years.
Sorry to hear about your husband. We’re at the same timeline in our grief then. Wow, that’s unbelievable and so cruel that his mum died just from washing his work clothes. They think my mum might have got it from makeup/cosmetics. From what I hear the beauty industry still isn’t rigorous enough to ensure no asbestos in makeup.
