Absolutely Ron, I am on the sidelines too
Oh pudding (Sandra) I know losing your husband of 50 years, so suddenly, is heartbreaking - we’re all in the same boat, the one that’s rocking side to side. Some of us would like to jump and others hold on for dear life determined to do their loved ones proud. Grief is so overwhelming. Can’t decide which one I want to be !!!
If anybody tries to jump out of this boat the rest of us will just haul you back on board.
And all that splashing will wet my tippex and nail varnish.
Just sit tight until we get to the other side.
Xx
Jeez Willow(Jane) you do make me smile, paddle anyone.
All of us have gone through the worst thing that could happen to us so we just have to continue to row the boat together and stabilise each other when the water gets choppy, if any one gets in the way we whack them with our oars lol
Wow, that made me chuckle - thanks so much. I’ll consider myself whacked!!!
Reminds me of a song
“You raise me up” etc.
A bunch of people brought together by grief, whacking each other with oars.
Thanks all. Xx
It’s good to smile sometimes. We cry often enough. My husband got really distressed if I cried. He lived his life trying (and succeeding) in making me happy. If he is still present in some form I want him to know that all his love and care was not wasted. That his love outlasted his life and left me better off than I would have been without him. I can and will be happy, even while I miss him with every breath.
Xx
That’s so lovely and very profound.
I have some paddle boards if anyone wanted to be a bit more adventurous??
Re DIY - I gave up trying to sort my bike today and took it in to get mended at Halfords.
They all commented on my lovely bike ( husband got it through cycle to work scheme ) and all the extra features it has.
I had no idea what they were talking about but just smiled and agreed.
Got it home and still no idea
Xx
Yep know that feeling well,mechanics,electricians,plumbers,
Decorators etc try to explain to me,I nod and smile wisely without the faintest idea what they are talking about, just open my wallet.
Yes please! I could cause mayhem with a paddle board, that would be fun
Did they particularly like the sprockets? I have no idea what that means, but it sounds knowledgeable, but a little bit suggestive at the same time.
Can I ride your bike when we get to Widoworld? I promise not to get tippex on your sprockets.
I love going to those bloke places and pretending to know wtf they are talking about. Sometimes we have to give in and get the professionals on board.
My husband liked bikes and bought one for me. I refused to get on it until he changed the saddle. It had “ More and Large” written on the back of the saddle. No way was I going to put my bottom on it and wobble along.
If I am in the boat you will all need to be in the other side or we will sink. Hate boats. Been sick on a lake and the Norfolk Broads.
I am going to Portmerion tomorrow for a few days, (coach trip), never been before have any of you been? Wondering what’s it’s like, need to go and pack some things and it looks like bloody rain so may need a paddle board lol
It’s lovely Lyn. We went there last year. Quite a lot of walking. It was nice to do the woodland walk down to the hotel on the beach. We treated ourselves to afternoon tea.
Very pretty, take your camera. Enjoy. Xx
I read somewhere that boats are self levelling and have stabilisers,so I guess they have little wheels on the outside to keep it upright.
It’s beautiful, @LynT ; very peaceful (well, apart from the tourists lol!) and with a lovely view across the estuary.
Fin keel boats have ‘legs’ that have to be attached on mooring to stop them falling over. Bilge keel ones don’t need them.
Thanks ladies, looking forward to it apart from the weather but hey ho, got my waterproofs so will be fine
Yes, it always rains here in Wales!
