Well KtG it was 70’s the best decade for music of course , but I have no memory of what was playing that night , but I will tell you the story about how we were destined to meet, I worked in Woolworths while at school on a Saturday & late night Thursday when I was 15, I got friendly with a girl there who went to a different school, one day she asked if I would like to go on a double date with her boyfriend and his friend, I was very shy and the thot of a blind date set me in a panic so I declined, yes you have guessed fast forward to when I was 17 the boy I met that night was the one from the blind date, so guess we were just meant to be xxx
What a lovely story.
Lizzy you are so talented xx
Yip and all true, I guess 47 yrs married shows it truly was meant to be xxx
By the way the other couple got married too but did eventually divorce as did all the couples we socialised with back then we were the only couple who lasted xxx
Nigel is probably fast asleep he will be in for a lot of reading in the morning
Ktg,
I was a bit nervous the first time we went out, we actually met on Match.com, after a few disaster dates I decided to make the distance a bit longer so with him being quite rural we chatted for ages or I should say messaged each other. I thought he was a bit boring, I did my usual and wrote a page and he would reply with one line. When he asked me out, we met half way and went into Glasgow, we had a drink and then went for a curry, he spilt his whole glass of red wine onto his curry and it broke the ice. I actually couldn’t get a word in as he chatted non stop. He told me he couldn’t type very well hence the one line. We got on like a house on fire. Now the kiss was a surprise in the middle of a busy street, I was shocked and these teenagers shouted “get a room” he actually asked me to marry him that same week. I did wait a year as my daughter was getting married. Love at first sight you could say
Georgi, that is so lovely.
I also worked in Woolworths on a Saturday when I was 15, it was hard work, I ended up at the dog food and soap powder counter which made me sneeze. I had to wrap up the soap powder in brown paper and it was the time they gave plastic flowers with them if you bought soap powder. You also had to add everything up in your head, imagine doing that nowadays lol
Yes Lizzy when you know you just know, as Ive said before we met in January got engaged on my 18th in April and married the following Januaryxxx
What a coincidence eh ? I loved working there everyone called it big Woolies cause there was a smaller one on a side street in town, I still miss Woolies and C&A loved shopping there !
Georgi, I agree, we were just right together , he was so different from my first husband in every way. He was such a gentleman.
I’m never going to get to sleep now, it’s been a lovely night reminiscing, maybe I will dream about him tonight.
Night night xx
Yes it truly has loved seeing all the gorgeous photos goodnight Lizzy you must be shattered xxx
Debsie, I have tears as well thinking of our lovely husbands who are no longer here, I took a picture of mine on our last day in Turkey, I’m lazy at taking photos, but as we’re waiting for friends to go in for breakfast I took one of him sitting in the sun outside the restaurant, he looked healthy, tanned and well. Sadly he died two days later, I was never good at selfies. I wish I had one of us together, I cry when I look at that picture of him, yours is such a lovely photo. Xxx
Oh my goodness Lizzie we also met on match.com
And I did date a lot of toads before I found my prince.
He told me he wanted to marry me within months but the very funny story of our engagement is a long one and I’ll share it another time. .
Needless to say he was ill a number of times. And I always used to say that I bought him secondhand on the Internet and like an old car I forgot to look under the bonnet to doublecheck all was going to be working.
Okay! I love the photos. You are all just gorgeous couples. Sweet.
Sent the finance guy a DC and the Letters Testamentary as well as the checks to the heirs. Yay! Done! Post office and grocer’s. Done!
While The Beast was outdoors eating the beef ribs I bought for him, I got the living room floor polished. Done!
Time for chilling and enjoying doing nothing. I have lots to do, but not doing it today.
I do not have to appear for Jury duty tomorrow. Soon, they will stop sending these summonses. People over 70 are excused.
My darling, tiny friend with the valve issue had an emergency admit last night. She’s in ‘not good’ shape. We are hopeful. The pneumonia lasted too long and she is worn out.
Robots and ionizers! I am running out of electrical outlets (sockets). Did I already say that I ordered 6 more? Well, I did.
Some gals want new shoes, I want air purifiers.
I moved furniture around just to change things up.
No A/C guy with a compressor, no mechanic, and the rusty daybed is still here. It’s fine. Tax day tomorrow. All day. Got a huge packet to read and figure out. I mean we were married, filing jointly and now I am a single payor. No clue.
Love to all.
Beautiful Peaches - you look very lovely and so comfortable together.
What year was that?
Always seem to pack your day so full. The beast seems to dine very well.
I’m thinking of your poor Friend) and hoping they get her sorted as quickly as possible.
Peaches, another beautiful picture, you are just what I imagined what you would look like. Such a happy picture.
I just looked up our age to be exempt from jury duty and seemingly there is no upper age but if you are over 70 you could ask to be excused, not sure if you would need a doctors letter or if our age would do it. I hate jury duty, it gets cancelled so many times and is such a waste of money for all the legal profession.
It’s a clearing out day for me, no more painting. My daughter and son-in-law bought my carpet for me last night. Will probably get it fitted at the weekend. The room is finished.
Someone local is picking my small freezer up later, getting there slowly.
Day one with my nail strengthener, I’ve to put it on very day for a week then remove it and then do it again. Another nail just split and broke a second ago.
Going to make some breakfast before I start, I didn’t have anything yesterday till about 2.30 which wasn’t sensible.
Hope you have a good evening xxx
Ktg, Isn’t it amazing the things we all have in common, I only went on Match because my daughter told me to try it, I wasn’t keen. I remember going out with one toad, I actually recognised him in my local supermarket and I discretely followed him round the shop. I should have cancelled as you just know, he wasn’t for me. He decided to go a run in car to the coast, that was prob the wrong thing to do, my daughter was tracking me. How the tables turned lol. We had nothing in common, he had a full blown argument with his son on loudspeaker in the car. I was thinking, “beam me up Scotty” couldn’t wait to get home. That was when I decided to look further afield, no more local people. This is how I ended up living in the country. It was the best chapter of my life, so I have to thank Match.com xxx
Success at last Peaches, you both look amazing, a lovely photo xxx
