Two weeks of widowhood.

Your garden is a lot like mine, but your pond looks so much nicer than mine xx

Digger, yes Sir, your garden is a mess. It was really lovely, a little oasis. More of a jungle now, although that grass looks so luxurious. I bought a 4lb battery operated weed trimmer. It works very well and runs about 30 minutes before needing a charge. By then, I am ready to quit anyway.

I think you need a yard guy to come in to mow, trim back bushes, uncover lost plants and remove garbage. A head start.

MtG - I love dark colors as well. I have blackish walls and love them. Never tire of the color - Seal Skin. Are those period colors? The most relaxing bedroom colors are blues. Greens are soothing. I love the ceilings painted light blue already, I would continue the sage green above the picture rail in the bath to the area behind the toilet.

In the bedroom I would continue the red onto the picture railing and up to the moulding, change the draperies to a beige that matched the settee and add some brass. That red is screaming for gold! No need to paint the whole room.

Are the sofas purple? Can’t tell on my screen.

Had a drive out to the lake, beautiful day, sailboats everywhere. Took The Beast for a 3 mile walk, I did not want to do anything, so I heated up what we were going to have last night for dinner and voila! Even had a couple of sips of cabernet.

Had a nice nap while watching something on streaming. It must have been very intriguing whatever it was. It was British, and the accents and different fluctuations throw me off some times “what did she say?”, so I pause and go back. This one lulled me into a 90 minute zombie state. I will watch it again.

Tomorrow I start with the service provider to cut the cable. They will probably insist on talking to my husband as the accounts are in his name. May have to get my brother to pretend for me. I don’t want to have to send paperwork to prove death or have to open a new account and set up auto-pay and such again. Not yet anyway.

Debsie, I got tired just reading what you did today. Darn it woman, you make us look bad! Your garden is gorgeous!

Nigel, that man cave gave me instant horror. I felt the blood drain to my feet.

Sending my guest off with some things that I am purging out of the house. All good stuff that I do not, and will never, use. It is stuff for entertaining. Her daughter is a young nurse, living on her own and can and will use this stuff. She is doing the entertaining now. We are done with that at 70. Great!

Tomorrow I will get three plants repotted and maybe some cleaned up and ready to be planted with flowering things to brighten up the dullness left by the snowpocolypse we had here.

I wouldn’t s dare show photos until I have some before and afters.

Love to all.

Good morning, everybody.

Well, that gardening has stiffened my shoulder and triggered a migraine. My fault for saying I have had less of them. I need to get out of the habit of waking at 6. I need more sleep than I’m getting.

This talk of man caves got me dreaming of sheds. I dreamt we had a shed on a grass verge beside the road, and I had forgotten to lock it. Davids expensive push bike was stolen. I knew the insurance wouldn’t pay out and was contemplating just locking it and denying all knowledge.

Peaches that lake sounds like a lovely spot. It sounds like you are good at design. I need you in my beige house. Did you enjoy your weekend with your visitor? I think I need to go and look for some new curtains. I had a look online and nothing inspired me. Or rather nothing in the size I need or at a reasonable price. I like my duvets that are blue but wanted something more exciting than plain blue curtains. It will give me something to shop for.

Sunny day today. Need to drop off my car later for a service tomorrow but apart from that the day is my own. The jobs that need doing are not calling to me.

Good morning everyone. I hope you slept better than me. 3.00 o’clock club last night!

Yes, It’s a mess Peaches - but now I have you all knowing I’ll feel more inclined to get it sorted. Peer pressure and all that you know! I was looking in kitchen cupboards yesterday and realised there is a whole host of things I’m not going to use in a month of Sundays. I feel a mass clearance coming! The trouble is #2 son might need them soon!

It’s a lovely sunny day out there with no wind so it should stay like that. I might try and get out there for some weeding, but today is a busy school run day so time gets limited in between. I need to do at least two tax returns as well. Perhaps I could sit in the sun to do those, as they are both paper rather than online.

I hope you all have a good day. xxxx

Morning everyone,
I had a terrible sleep as well last night, went to bed too early and was still wakened at 4am, if I’ve had 2 hours that’s all I’ve had.
Home Report getting done between 9 and 12, knowing my luck it will be 12am, think that’s why I couldn’t sleep.
Debsie, maybe you did too much yesterday, have a chill day today, I feel much better having a few days doing nothing although it was hard for me to do that.

Nigel the sun is shining here today, although the clouds are around. I had a good clear out in very cupboard in kitchen, it’s amazing the stuff you collect over the years. I filled bags of stuff, I will be more careful now and not keep buying things for the kitchen. I can’t get rid of my cake stuff, I hope my new kitchen has a lot of cupboards. At the moment they are in the wardrobes in the bedroom lol. I hope any viewers do not open my cupboards. I should sell all my chocolate making moulds as they cost me a lot and I have quite a few of them. The chocolate is so expensive now to buy.

Well I eat my words, the home report guy came at exactly 9 o’clock. I was on the nerves I can tell you. He wanted every window open as a lot were locked. He was very nice , spent a lot of time in the loft, I didn’t think he would go up right into it. Tapped every wall in the house, I thought he was checking my wee shelf but it was a gadget meter thing he put beside it. Maybe checking for moisture, I don’t know. He told me it was a nice house, some woodworm in garage which I didn’t know about and some of the decking is a little bit soft but only at one small part. For the age of the house he said it’s in a good state of repair. He tried all the lights were working and open and closed every door. Took loads of pictures. He asked me why I was moving and I took a deep breath and told him my husband died and I’m moving back to where I came from. You know know what you get when you say that, but I need all the help I can get, he knows the area I’m trying to move to and knows the prices are a lot higher than here. He said he would do his best to give me a good valuation, amazing what a tear does. He will look at the last three houses sold in the street, I told him they were priced very low as they were needing a lot of work done.
Ive done my best, I can’t do anymore now.
Is it too early for a brandy, my nerves are shattered. Xxxx

Well done Lizzy. Another box ticked. Fingers crossed its a good valuation. My youngest son want to purchase more of his help to buy property and needs a valuation. He wants his to be as low as possible. I told him to make sure the valuer knows that.

I am going to go out and get some gardening supplies. Some lawn patch seed as me scarifying last week has left some bare patches and those pesky squirrels keep digging holes. I will try and not do too much but I need to drop the car off later and its a 3 mile walk home but that is a normal walk for me.

My DIL is coming with me to Dunelm to look at curtains. She is taking Daisy to the doctors this morning as she still isn’t right and isn’t eating. It is probably those injections but its been going on for a week so it will put her mind at rest to get her checked.

Lizzy - well done another piece of the jigsaw done! And yes, how hard to answer that question without tears. I had to stop writing to people last night as it was too emotional. I’m just about to start the tax returns as I had to find the papers in the myriad of paperwork since November! Never too early for a brandy to relax you! xxxx

Nigel, glad you got an appointment with GP. We were always lucky at our Surgery, you can only call at 8am to get an appointment and I was never more than queue position 2. You are offered a same day phone call or a f2f that day as well. I can’t complain about our Surgery, it’s a small country practice with one doctor and one part time nurse.
It’s the receptionist I have problems with, she keeps getting the prescriptions wrong. I order my meds by email and told her I will pick it up from the Surgery. I can’t take the risk in getting the wrong tablets again, I will check it before I go the chemist. if they do not have the brand I need I will go elsewhere. I’ve had to half my tablets because they gave me the ones that upset my stomach. I will need to hand them over for them to get rid.

Hope you get most of your 5 done today.

Xxxx
