Why isn’t anything easy

I am about ready to scream, I have been trying for the last hour to get to talk to someone at British Gas. I notified the energy team 5 weeks ago that Ray had died and silly me thought they would notify the Homecare dept as well. I have to go through it all again.

Nothing in bureaucracy ever is,they fill their call centres with bits of kids that have the empathy of a gnat.
Good luck I hope you get it done.

The postman just brought confirmation of newly opened bank account and instructions and PIN number for online login.
I have spent an hour trying to convince the computer of my date of birth. It won’t have it.
The PIN number runs out soon. I suspect my patience will run out before the PIN number does.
Contact details on web page gives everything but a phone number.
Online support wants my date of birth……….
I just want a human, a building society pass book and some common bloody sense!

It has taken me almost 3hrs to get it sorted, Ray thought he had it all sorted but didn’t take into account that different depts in the same company don’t talk to each other. Still it is done now.

Willow it is almost impossible to talk to a human these days and when you do they aren’t much help just pass you from pillar to post. Hope you get it sorted.

Sadmin - aaaaaargh!!!
Where is Martin Lewis when you need him.
I keep saying I’m going to get in touch with him and get him to put me on his tv show to raise awareness of how awful companies are with this.
I’m sure we would have some unbelievable stories to tell.
Keep going with it all folks - tax office is my battle at the moment.
And again - aaaaaaaaargh. Xx

It’s been a busy morning for me,first a call from the docs saying I need an rsv vaccine today (whatever that is) and then a call from British Gas to book a boiler service and gas check as per my contract, funny how they can easily contact you,but the reverse is a nightmare.

A man from the water company knocked at my door to ask where the external stopcock and meter are. I told him that he was from the water board, he should tell me where they are.
Idiots.

I have just had two men around from the electricity board,in my infinite wisdom I thought why not go down the ev route,I don’t do many miles now so why not, after humming and arring for a bit they said your ampage isn’t enough hu,I said what’s the solution,he said we will have to lay a new more powerful cable,I said ok,so leaning on his shovel said it will mean getting council permits, closing the road, digging a channel across said road, securing pedestrian paths, extra 24/7 lighting returning to make good the channel, road closure notices,so I said who pays,he said you do,I said how much, out came the calculator and bits of paper, and said around £13,000 give or take a few quid,so after a sit down and a coffee I declined.

Ouch!:face_with_peeking_eye:
So much for trying to save the planet.

Try googling phone contact for the bank involved. Sometimes you can get a number. If you pm me the bank I will try and find it for you.

Ring tax office 8:30 a.m. Virtually no queue. Everyone thinks they open at 9.

And when you really want to lose it with all the incompetence… copy the CEO into all emails!
Anyone that struggles to find their email address, just ask me and I’ll do my absolute best to find it…

COO can be quite useful as well.

Thanks everyone. I found a phone number, spoke to a very nice lady. She sorted it out for me.

Yes, the Inland Revenue and DWP are very efficient are stopping pensions and personal tax allowances for deceased partners but not quite as efficient at giving refunds where there have been overpayments.
Funny that. Xx

Oh for a tax refund. Had a rather large tax bill thanks to an overseas bond my husband had. It was the only thing that needed probate. DWP only took 1 month to sort pension. Didn’t realise I got some of his so pleasant surprise. Amazing what I didn’t know as I was supposed to be IT support for accounts a costing and designed and wrote a payroll in my past. Fortunately never came up or I would have been rumbled.

DWP sent a very curt letter saying I wasn’t entitled to any of my husband’s pension. I assume the Tell Us Once system informed them of his death, I didn’t.
Xx

Yes the Tell it Once system would have informed them. I think it has something to do with age whether you get any of your husbands pension. I am 72. I did read the rules but with brain fog didn’t fully understand. Only due to my financial adviser that I know the annuity bought with my husbands private pension is tax free. They could do with making some of their correspondence more human.
