Years ago we would get crows return in the summer evenings to sleep overnight in nearby trees.
They would circle and more would join. They were not noisy but would call out.
Then gradually they would peel off to the trees with every rotation…
Latecomers would join them and after a while they would all have settled in trees.
We could hear when some had tried to land where others had settled.
It was a mesmerising thing to see.
