I so understand how you feel.I promise you will be ok with the support of family a friends.I still work 12hrs a week and look after my grandson on a Monday so that does help.Plan to retire next year .Sadly we won’t enjoy our retirement together. We talked about it a lot.x
I am trying to do the same as you. I have always had trouble making friends, and because I had my beloved Che, I didn’t feel a need to do so. Now, I have to step out of my “comfort” zone and try to make a new life for myself. I’ve joined a local facebook group (Warrior Women of the Cariboo). We all live rural, somewhat isolated, and need to make friends. They meet for lunch once a month, and often get together for just an afternoon of “fun”. For the long evenings, I’ve decided to take up knitting - bought myself some beautiful wool & new needles. I feel like I’m trying to distract myself (which I am somewhat). I do think that these endeavours will bring some enjoyment, which will grow with time. I have a little mental list of things I might like to do, places I might like to go - but they are for a brighter future. I’ve made myself a list: 1.Meet new people. Make friends 2.Want to do things!! 3. Re-enter life - dance, sing, flow 4. Learn to be proud of my accomplishments 5. Get motivated There’s no timeline, one step at a time is good.
I understand. It’s been almost 14 weeks for me. The first time I went to town by myself, I just left & came home, couldn’t do it. At the same time I realized that I had to learn to cope on my own - that I had to go out in public - like you, for my sanity. I’m finding that being out in public is getting easier. There are still times I feel overwhelmed by what is going on around me. If I can’t get control of myself, I just leave & come home and try again a different day. I try to make a plan “tomorrow I will go to…”. Doesn’t always work out…It is hard, harder than anything I’ve ever been through…
It’s reassuring to know that you have felt the same. I have not done this on my own for some considerable time as the last seven months I was caring for my husband at home. I am glad I tried and will continue to try as you do but as you say it is so hard. One minute I think I can do this and the next I’m a wreck.
Hi Brenny.Jeanette here.Felt a little unwell today so didn’t go into work.I expect it didn’t help me being in floods of tears Sunday night.Still feeling a bit down. I’ve been dreading the winter months. The nights drawing in and the bad weather. Its depressing. But hey got to pick myself up and get on with my new life.My David whould want me to.x
Hi to everyone, sorry not been on here , having a hard time at the moment, our anniversary is this weekend and i have just had a bad time, we will celebrate his birthday in November and we are going to celebrate his life. I find our Anniversary a hard one to get past, but i know i will…
Hi Jeanette sorry to hear you haven’t felt well today. I think all the crying and grieving brings down our defences so we have to be careful. I too am dreading the dark nights I see to be more at peace with myself when outside in the garden so it’s is going to be difficult but somehow we have to find the strength to overcome our fears. I do hope you feel better soon. Sending hugs Brenda

Re, the subject…" coping every day…" I am not coping, nor living, just getting myself through another lonely day and coping with my MS…My Richard has now been gone si months come 11th October and it is just like it was a week or a month ago to me, I have not had one day of nt crying or going to pieces since the day i suddenly lost him and found him dead in his armchair of a heart blockage on that late morning, mid day after taking our-his fog to the pet groomer and not making it back to collect him…Richard was 74, i am 68 and was diagnosed with PP-MS four years ago at age 64 which changed both of our lives, or rather cut short our retirement years when we should have been enjoying them…
Correcting spelling mistakes on my above post…
fog is meant to be dog…
si is meant to be six
nt is meant to be not…
Jackie…
