Spent a couple of hours putting together some videos for @Heartbroken12
They were of our visits to St Fagans and Barry Island in June and July
Here’s the Barry Island one. Catherine can do the St Fagans one

It feels like this at times
Yes
Me and husband use to muck about when he was ill and unable to sleep in same bed saying we were The Waltons, calling to one another from separate rooms, which I HATED but the illness dictated the need! But we tried to make light of situation!
It’s dull here this morning. So we are off to the shopping centre. I’ll try my best not to buy too much but I do get carried away there. It has so many shops and is one of the biggest shopping centre ls around. I guess shopping is another hobby I have ![]()
It’s my last weekend here will be sad to leave as I do love it here and I know it’s going to be very hard to be back to the four walls and the emptiness but I’ve arranged for things for the next few weeks and of course now having finishing work for awhile I need to have a new routine.
So I hope you all have something planned for your day and whatever it holds I send virtual hugs ![]()
There’s been a power cut in town centre so it’s a bit chaotic as shops start to open.
Apparently been one where I live as well.
Must be the bl**dy moles
It was strange everyone just roaming about all shops in darkness.
There was a craft market so it was good for them. Nice seeing handmade crafts. Some people are very talented.
If you could make something what would it be?
I like to see stained glass coasters etc
As promised please find our trip to Saint Fagans @Johnr as usual kindly made me a YouTube video.
If you had told me 18 months ago I would be visiting these places and climbing mountains doing amazing walks and going down mine shafts to pits I would of laughed at you
I wish I could paint, so make a picture is what I would want to do.
Nothing too fantastic just something like this
Thinking of food again ![]()
Seriously yes I would love to paint I love art. Watercolours like Monet
If you go to Italy and see the beautiful paintings on ceilings there it’s breathtaking
Went out for lunch earlier at a Toby Carvery that was built on the plot of an old pub my parents used to run in the 70s/80s
Shame they demolished the old pub
Me and Jackie in the bar late 70s
Difficult night trying to sleep. Up at 3.30 for a drink. Back to bed around 4.30, then slept until 8.30.
So my new interest is trying to have a good nights sleep ![]()
Anyway life rolls on ![]()
Up early again![]()
I’ve been suffering from tinnitus for decades but it seems to have worsened these last couple of weeks. There doesn’t seem to be any cure for it other than trying herbal remedies.
I’ll try a visit to the doctor’s assuming I can get an appointment
Perhaps Welsh medicine has a cure.
Anyway have as good a day as you can ![]()

Dear John
I’m sorry your not sleeping, I know what it’s like. Would it help to have something else playing to distract you from the tinnitus? Bird song, rain or waves work for some I believe.
Good luck with the doctor, I hope he has something that helps x
I can never sleep with any noise on. I know some play music or sounds like you suggest, but I can’t. Too distracting.
A friend in the RAF used to leave the tap running in his room all night. He liked the sound of running water ![]()
Just taken Catherine back home and tackling stairs in a house for the first time since May really hurt my knees, particularly the left one. For an 80 year old, I’m fairly fit, but it just shows how your body adjusts to circumstances
Oh that would make me want to use the bathroom.
I wonder if all those years playing with loud music caused it?
I know someone who has it and they said it’s constantly there, must be awful
Hello @Heartbroken12 I agree so much with your original comments, my husband passed away 4 months ago and 3 weeks ago I spent a few days away at our static caravan, just to prove to myself that I could cope with travelling on my own. The journey there and back was a success, but it felt really weird being there without him, to be honest I don’t think I really enjoyed it, so in future I’m going to try some short trips to places we’d never been to.
In the last 12 months he’d lost interest in so many things, we hardly went out at all which was unusual, but since being alone I’ve started doing various “me” things and it’s really helped. It sort of makes up for the year of not doing much, and they’re things my husband wouldn’t have been interested in anyway. There’s an occasional slight guilty feeling but I know he’d tell me to “go for it!”
I think uoi have taken the plunge that some many of us need to dare try if possible.
As the months have gone on my mindset has been all over the place!
Early months I was more possitive to try to do things. But I guess depression got a hold and I saw no point to anything, could not see enjoyment in anything. TBH still in that place currently but tiny thoughts of maybe I can in the future are sometimes creeping in.
Unfortunately as I can’t leave my sickly, elderly dog it does make it so much harder. She is a quirky little girl, always has been so finding the right people to dog sit is a challenge.
But even if my thoughts of future life is more forward, more possitive that will be a big step in right direction. Even if I am not able to do at the moment.
A case of real life getting in the way!
Thank you. I’ve been fairly positive so far but I do wonder how it will be when winter weather sets in and I’m not able to go out so much, will cross that bridge if and when it arrives. My friend’s advice was to take one day at time, no point in worrying about “what ifs”.
You have your little canine companion to take care of, but I expect it might be doubly hard for you when she (inevitably) reaches the end of her life, you will have another bereavement to cope with plus there won’t be that “excuse” as to why you can’t get out and about. Be kind to yourself!
Yes it will be a very hard time when she goes. Alot of mixed up feelings to get through. But I will, I will have to! Be no choice!
Trying to enjoy her whilst she is here.
Restricting ‘yes’ but she gives the company and comfort I so need currently.
No point in trying to judge how that time will be as we all well know we have to live in the moment best we can!
