Good Morning All.
This morning much better weather wise. Emotionally not much better but having to learn to live with that unfortunately.
Miss my darling John massively and trying to live this ‘life’ with a plastered on smile is sometimes tough.
Granddaughters bday party later today so a few glasses of fizz on the cards…
Hope everyone manages a decent day..![]()
Morning my thoughts are with you today. We never forget but we have to carry on with our plastered masks on.
We did not have children or pets so I don’t have anyone to focus on but have given myself a stern talking to, to make myself live my life in the best way I can, as my husband would hate to see me like this. None of us asked or deserve this “new life”

Yes the smiling mask because people pull away if they see your upset , it sounds like we are all doing it more of a “ the show must go on” to family and friends otherwise they simply don’t know what to say or behave around you and find it easier to distance themselves your probably a little more isolated than I have been but reaching out as a volunteer the gym and trying new things in crafting or adult education classes would help you a little with socialising when you feel ready it’s certainly helped me with the help of the people on this forum the stories stopped me holding things back and yes a grown man crying like a baby but I am now managing much better and have started looking a little more to the future baby steps when you can take them and batten down the hatches when you cannot but slow and steady progress
That is so very very true the date i will always hate most for as long as I shall live is the 22nd of September 2025 that’s the date my heart broke in tiny peices and can never be but back together again….
I am the same I cant stand this pain hurt sadness all the time I just wish I could just be with my beautiful wife
That’s so beautiful I really miss my beautiful wife so so much I lost her while we where away for our wedding anniversary my world was torn away
Hi brummy,
Hope you were ok today, shopping.
Thinking about you tomorrow.
Take care.
John i have been thinking of you today.I hope you have managed ok?A lot of what you write is so true and reflect my feelings and sadness too.It will be 9 months for me tomorrow. The day my dear loving, caring, gentle wife left me.Like you John i too died that day, nothing will ever be as it was ,my heart broke into thousands of pieces never to heal.We had been married 36 happy years , i couldnt even say a proper “goodbye “ to her.Every day i say to her “I hope you know how much i loved you”, i do now and always will.Life as it is now feels like just existing not living as we knew and loved.I often feel i have joined the queue in “Gods waiting room” awaiting my call.I agree with you those around me too have no idea how grief effects those who lose a partner.Being alone now is so hard, i often feel as though i am in an alien world, the familiar things like shops, buildings, vehicles, nature look familiar but the people inhabiting this world feel like strangers all scurrying about their daily lives obliviously to people like us grieving inside if not outwardly. Its a horrible “life” we inhabit now but somehow we have to find the motivation, meaning and purpose to carry on.Every day and night i ask/pray to be reunited with my dear wife but i am still here so there must be a “bigger picture” to all this.Your advice is so true John, my dear wife taken from me so unespectedly and suddenly really echoed that advice.
I hope you manage to sell your house ok.Take care.

Thank you for those so true words. The date my dear wife passed i will always dread. The other “trigger dates” too like our anniversary, birthdays, i dread too.i have already had my dear wifes birthday, our anniversary and my birthday, they were awful.Take care

I feel the same as you.Everyday and night i pray to be with my dear wife again. The pain and grief are awful.9 months it will be tomorrow since my dear wife passed, she was so loving, kind, caring. It has broken me.My life torn apart, all our dreams and hopes for our future latter years destroyed. As you say its just sadness all the time.Take care.
