My son died aged 33

Letty68

I too charge my son’s phone and it just helps me feel close to him. I know that might seem strange to some people but those who’ve lost a child get it. We cleaned out his apartment and have most of his stuff here with us. It’s too hard to let go of anything.

Hi Debbie

I just can’t let anything belonging to my son, go. Thankfully my husband feels exactly the same. So everything will stay here with us until our time is up. Our son was cremated and he is with us too. Couldn’t bare the thought of him being away from us in the cemetery under all that earth. We’ll all be buried together when my husband and I die. But until then he will stay with us.

Hello everyone

Im currently sat in the bedroom surrounded with my beautiful Elizabeth’s things. Im unable to go through them but I like to sit with her things near me. I only wish I could smell her perfume but ive lost my sense of smell so holding her things is what I do. I know Elizabeth is sat here aswell.
All we can do is remember our beautiful children until we’re reunited with them.

For all the parents who lost children to SUDEP , in houses of common on Wednesday evening it was agreed that more awareness of SUDEP and epilepsy be made at clinical appointments.

Love and virtual hugs to you all.

Letty,

Our son is cremated and with us as well. He is our only child. He passed away on Feb 23 2026. It still doesn’t seem real

My son is here with me but his partner has his phone and keeps it charged. I message him every morning without fail and have done for 70 weeks and 2 days now.

The days go by but im stuck in time on that fateful day. I long to be with him and my time cant come soon enough.

Sending hugs to you mums :people_hugging:

Hello

I feel the same. Reliving that horrendous day I found my beautiful daughter Elizabeth on her bedroom floor. I cant get that image out of my head.

Im still having counselling sessions but have now been referred for trauma counselling.
Im still sat in amongst Elizabeth’s things. Her brother has just rang to say he’s sat at her grave.

Love to you all

Sharon

I’m having the worse morning. I’ve cried and pleaded to have my son back. I feel terrible.

Grief is horrible it’s always there but then days like today it’s like I’m back at day one. How can I live like this for the rest of my life without my son. Yesterday I felt like I was coping then today hit. I don’t know how I’m supposed to live like this forever. I need him so much .

Ive had bad week with a lot of meltdowns. I scream out loud why? I feel I cant go on either. He is my absolute world and so many things he would have helped me with.

Ive read about a lady who lost her son and paid to go to Switzerland and now her pain is over and she is with her boy.

How i wish I could afford that.

Hello

Ive just been in the garden sorting out Elizabeth’s flower/plant corner ive done for her. It now looks alot better. I did it as a memory corner for us to sit and talk to her if we are unable to get to the cemetery.

I look after my husband who’s going through alot medically again and future not looking good so I vent, scream and tell Elizabeth everything sat in her memory corner. Its all lit up at night with lanterns and fairy lights :sparkles:.

Expressing my sincere love to every parent who’s lost their beloved children.

My Son was called Rupert , I went online and found the plant called Rupert Pinks. I’ve planted it in my garden. I searched for a rose but the only one I could find in South Africa. X

What a lovely thing to do. I love the idea of having a corner you can go to outside.

Love, hugs, positive thoughts to all the parents.

I bought a cherry blossom tree last year for my daughter’s first heavenly birthday, she would have been 42.

I planted the tree in the largest pot I could get and have solar string lights on it. I buried some of her ashes with it and I go and sit next to it and chat to Lauren. If ever we move I can take it with me.

Hugs to all mums that are grieving. Xxx

Afternoon ladies, 71 weeks and 4 days and reality doesn’t seem to be kicking in.

I was invited to tea with my daughter yesterday and she barely mentions her brother, I feel an inconvenience to her.

Ive had some bad days this past week, I talk to my son all the time and I feel his presence. I live alone in my apartment and if I do get any visitors, very rare, they say its peaceful here. I am surrounded by photos of my boy in every room and he is in my living room. Im certainly not happy but I feel contented being here with him.

I feel like a hermit at times and ask him often to come and get me. I miss him uncontrollably and just long to be with him.

I hope and pray each night I wont wake up but will wake up being with him and not here.

I’m on sleeping tablets but manage 3 or 4 hours most nights.

This is not living merely existing.

Without you ladies to talk to I dont know what I’d do.

I love my boy so much and miss him.

Sending :people_hugging: to you ladies

Today is my daughter Lauren’s f41 2 nd birthday in heaven. This is worse than last year. I want my girl back. She was always smiling, such a happy person. So loved by everyone. Over 300 people at the funeral. The mayor, councillors, police in dress uniform crying.

Why my daughter?

Feeling for you Mum 89, my other son also never mentions his brother and it hurts so badly. I want to keep my boy alive and I talk about him all the time to my husband who feels the same as me. The brothers were four years apart and did not live near each other and so led separate lives. However, they grew up together and loved each other as boys. The three of us are the only close relatives and the only ones who can keep my precious son’s memories alive. Perhaps like many others my remaining son is afraid of upsetting me by mentioning him. The reverse of course is true :broken_heart:

My son doesn’t talk about Lauren, but his partner dies. She has said that Calum, Lauren’s brother gets very upset when he talks about Lauren, so in order to cope he doesn’t talk about her. Lauren’s eldest daughter who is 18 now and lives with us also doesn’t talk about her mum, but her younger sister talks about her mum all the time. I think it is just that people grieve and cope differently.
