Still Struggling

I had a perm for a while too, late 80s. Wasn’t too bad but not really my favourite style. Easy to look after though!

A trainee hairdresser did mine and it was a disaster! It didn’t take very well and my mum was not pleased! The jumper/legging combo I had didn’t help either. Anyone have leg warmers? Mine were mustard!

Update, I have to be referred to a specialist and have been told I should hear from hospital in 2 weeks regards my teeth. I will need to have them removed in order to be put onto a bone strengthing drug. Been told a window of 4 to 6 weeks by the Myaloma nurse.

Oh no I’m sorry to read that, if it’s not one thing it’s another and having to wait 4-6 weeks too. Will you be able to get dentures at some point?

In the future hopefully, I always had a phobia with dentist and had looked into implants but they are costly. I think my back worrys me more at the moment though.

Yes, had cream leg warmers with a pattern on them. And pixie boots! Loved those boots.
Just back from my trip to scatter the ashes . Was what I wanted and am pleased but it has upset me too. Am exhausted right now. A lovely place though. Also managed to catch up with my mum’s cousin, 92. She’s the only real family member I have from my parents so it was lovely to see her.

Sorry to hear this. So many health issues must be so hard to cope with.

Taking it day by day, only thing I can do. But it is exhausting mentally. I have to concentrate on my back and help the hospital to help me.

@Keith68 I know that it must be important for your treatment but at the same time it will affect your ability to eat for a while. You need to eat well because of the chemotherapy and aiding cell renewal. Maybe start feeding yourself up a bit to get the weight up and nutrition. Mum always used to worry about eating fatty things and I tried to drum into her that it was ok as she needed the energy. You’ll be eating what my mum called “pobs” for a while.

@Magsclar it will have been so hard for you today but your mum is completely settled now amongst the wildlife. I have not heard from mum’s bank since 20 June, I’ve sent them two emails to find out what the next step is in releasing mum’s fund but they haven’t replied. I’ll need to sit for ages to try and get through to them on the phone when I finish work tomorrow. It’s the only thing that is outstanding. I can’t pay the residual beneficiaries until December but I would like to have a break from worrying about it for a few months, it’s pushed back my feelings at times. I had some crazy patterned leggings in the 80’s and 90’s, why we thought they were fashionable I do not know! I hope you are feeling a little better tonight x

Sorry to hear about your dentist experience. . However, as you say, you need to look out for your overall health and the priority right now is your back. Hope all goes as well as can be expected let us know how it goes please.

The only problem is the hospital are keen to put me on this bone strengthening drug. They put me on a emergency course when I was in hospital. My back was my main concern as back having a wash was a nightmare. Putting on jeans was a struggle, I was taking socks to work with me to get a colleague to put on, I just couldn’t do it. So far the hospital has improved my health considerable compared to then. Last two days I managed to put socks on without a aid. Washing is becoming normal, your back is important, the minute you wake up you use your back.

Hi Keith

I’m glad they are doing something for you. I know how limiting it is when you have back trouble and you are right your back is involved in everything you do.
Take care

Thanks @Malcolm2 . I had a good cry last night but do feel better today. It was really nice to see a relative too, of which I have virtually none. Was so lovely to be ‘home’ where I’m from. It all felt right really.
Wish I was back in the 80s really, leg warmers or not!
The banks ought to respond to you quickly really. My mum’s were ok and we got probate pretty quickly. Is it different in Scotland regarding probate etc?
